The Pediatric Inpatient Unit at American Medical Clinic is specially designed for children and adolescents who need hospital care.
Staying in the hospital is not a fun experience, especially for a child. A child’s illness is difficult for everyone involved and at AMC we go to great length to create a calm, reassuring atmosphere and help families through this difficult time.

Experienced AMC pediatric staff provides round-the-clock care to pediatric patients of all ages who require hospital admission for:

• Respiratory infections
• Asthma
• Gastroenteritis with dehydration
• Acute otitis, bronchitis, sinusitis, tonsillitis
• Pneumonia
• Pyelonephritis
• Fractures
• Other common childhood illnesses
• General surgery

The unit is also fully equipped to provide specialized treatment for children with infections or diseases that require isolation as well as pediatric patients recovering from surgery or trauma.

Physicians and staff

While our facilities are state-of-the-art, it is our staff of caring dedicated professionals who make the difference. All pediatric patients on the unit are assessed and cared for by a pediatric team that includes physicians, nurses, child life specialists and pharmacists. These doctors are fulltime pediatricians on staff who are available round the clock to provide medical care to children on the unit. They don't just care for your child's medical needs, they care for your child.

Family Friendly Environment

We want to make your child’s stay in the hospital as comfortable and home-like as possible. The pediatric inpatient unit provides toys, games, books and movies for younger children. Older children have access to DVD players and VCRs that they can use in their rooms. 
The hospitalization of a child is also a stressful experience for families, so we make it a priority to provide support to families during their hospital stay. Parents or relatives are encouraged to visit any time, and one parent is welcome to stay overnight with his/her child. All rooms include facilities for a family member to sleep by the child's bedside. Other visitors are welcome between the hours of 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Pediatric Surgery

The Pediatric Inpatient Unit of American Medical Clinic also admits children for surgical procedures. The surgeons of the unit work collaboratively with the parents to develop a treatment plan that is best for the child combining compassionate care with conservative treatment, standard surgical procedures, and cutting-edge technologies.

Our pediatric surgeon, Dr. Dmitry Verbitsky, M.D, PH. D has expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of all pediatric surgical problems and right now is the head and author of a special program – 1 day surgery for children. The crucial advantage of this program is that the child spends only a day in the hospital. The program covers most common surgeries, including:

• Inguinal hernia
• Inguinoscrotal hernia
• Omphalocele
• Сircumcision in case of phimosis
• Dropsy of the testicle
• Cryptorchidism
• Palomo or laparoscopic operation in case of varicocele
• Operation in case of ingrown nail
• All kind of cysts
• Foreign body removal
• And many others

Initial visits to the surgeon are for consultation only. Surgery, if needed, is scheduled at a later date in the Ambulatory Surgery Facility at American Medical Clinic and Hospital. In 20% of cases the doctor at the consultation proves that there is no need in operation or the operation might be performed much later.
