Peritonitis is usually caused by bacteria, but can be consequences of the chemical inflammation, for example, in the case of ingress in the abdominal membrane of hydrochloric acid, bile or urine.

The disease develops very acutely, proceeds very fast and requires urgent medical help. The prognosis in case of untimely or inadequate treatment is very unfavorable: without treatment it is not infrequent from the beginning of the inflammation till death that it takes only 2 or 3 days. The symptoms of peritonitis include acute, constantly increasing pain in the abdomen; fast increasing temperature approaching fever, accompanied by shivers and hydrosis; loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting, with no alleviation. Usually water depletion is developed connected to the emission of huge amount of liquid into the abdominal membrane and sepsis (blood poisoning). 

The severity and fast progressing of the disease requires intervention at early stages, otherwise the patient might die. This is why it is extremely important to diagnose and start treatment in the first days of the disease.

Trauma and orthopedics

The specialists of Trauma Department of American Medical Clinic & Hospital have been successfully performing elective surgeries of endoprosthesis replacement of hip joints of elderly people. 

The most common reasons for full endoprosthesis are arthrosis, intraarticular fracture, rheumatism, tumors, inflammations, head necrotic resolution of hip joint. Intensive Care Unit 

In the Intensive Care Unit we have patients admitted in extremely grave condition. For the doctors of this department stabilizing of patients’ condition and bringing them out of this condition is an every day job, but for other employees of the company – this is every time a sort of a victory and for the friends and relatives is a huge joy and relief. Our last record – artificial ventilation of a patient’s lungs for 21 days – the patient was transmitted to the AMC in an extremely grave condition. This is a unique case, because usually such procedure is performed only within 2 or 3 days.
