Elena Budantseva graduated from St. Petersburg State University (department of biochemistry) in 1984. From 1979 till 1990 worked in the Institute of Cytology headed by the Russian Academy of Sciences. Then in the Institute of the Human Brain as a research assistant. In 1998 Elena Budantseva started working as a PCR-specialist. 

Since 2004 Elena Budantseva has been employed at AMC.
